Emilio Aguinaldo - Early life and career, Philippine Revolution, Presidency of the First Republic of the Philippines

Filipino revolutionary, born near Cavite, Luzon, Philippines. He led the rising against Spain in the Philippines (1896–8), and then against the USA (1899–1901), but after capture in 1901 took the oath of allegiance to America.
