The sacred law of Islam, embracing all aspects of a Muslim's life. It has four sources: the Qur'an, the sunna or ‘practice’ of the Prophet Mohammed, ijma or ‘consensus of opinion’, and qiyas or ‘reasoning by analogy’. Four Sunni schools of law are recognized under Sharia.
