Slender-bodied fish with very long jaws forming a narrow bill; widespread in tropical and warm temperate seas; dorsal and anal fins placed close to tail; includes W Atlantic, Strongylura marina, a voracious surface-living predator; length up to 1·2 m/4 ft; also called garfish. (Family: Belonidae.)
