Actress and writer, born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, C England, UK. She trained at the Italia Conti Stage School and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London, and appeared as a child in several films for the Children's Film Foundation. In 1959 she married Bryan Forbes, and has appeared in a number of his films, including The L-Shaped Room (1962), The Raging Moon (1971), and The Stepford Wives (1974). She was a frequent member of the panel on the television quiz shows Call My Bluff and What's My Line, and had her own series The Fun Food Factory. She has written many popular books, such as God Bless Love (1972, reprinted 16 times), Fun Food Feasts (1978), Charlie the Noisy Caterpillar (1989), There's a Bear in the Classroom (1996), and Good Baby, Bad Baby (2002).
