Leopoldo Alas (y Ure

Writer, born in Zamora, NWC Spain. He was professor of law at Oviedo, but better known as a forceful literary critic (his pseudonym means ‘bugle’). He published short stories (Cuentos morales, 1896), a drama Teresa, and several novels, including La regenta (1885, The Regent's Wife).
