Leopold von Sacher-Masoch - Venus in Furs, Influence

Lawyer and writer, born in Lemberg, Galicia, Austria-Hungary (part of modern Poland). He wrote many short stories and novels, including Der Don Juan von Kolomea (1866), depicting the life of small-town Polish Jews. The term masochism was coined for the form of eroticism he describes in his later works.
