An Antarctic true seal (Hydrurga leptonyx); slim with pointed head; dark grey above, pale beneath with dark spots; lives along edge of pack ice; eats mainly penguins (may shake them, literally, out of their skins); also eats other seals, fish, and carrion; only seal in which female is larger than male; also known as sea leopard.
