Comedian and actor, born in Dudley, West Midlands, C England, UK. He won the New Faces Talent Show in 1975, joined the children's television show Tiswas, was one of Three of a Kind (1981–3), and went on to star in his own BBC television comedy series the Lenny Henry Show (1984–95) and Chef (3 series, from 1992). He also hosts the annual BBC Comic Relief telethon. He appeared in the film True Identity (1991). He has also written a volume of autobiography, The Quest for the Big Woof (1991) and a book for children (1995). He is married to Dawn French.
